The CARTEC PRE-Q1A is a two channel high quality transformer based microphone preamp that incorporates a passive inductor based equalizer, a balanced attenuator, and mono summing for both channels with a dedicated XLR output.
The fully balanced stepped output attenuator (constant impedance T-pad) allows saturation of the output transformer while controlling the output level (allowing you to really drive the PRE-Q1A without clipping the next item in your signal chain). An AUX send that can be used to sum channels 1 & 2 together (blending two guitar mics, or snare top/bottom to mono for example) or to send either channel on to a second processing chain. The AUX works alongside the channels individual XLR outputs so you have the option to record from outputs 1 or 2 or 1 & 2 + AUX or just the AUX.
The Line level switch allows all of the features of be used both during tracking and mixing. you could send pre-recorded sounds to the EQ section or use the a combination of the EQ and transformer saturation to enhance synths or any existing sounds.
Inbetween the two gain stages is a filter section identical to that in our EQP-1A, to give you control over the high and low frequency boost at three selectable frequencies.
