Dolby® Media Meter 2, like the original Dolby Media Meter software tool, accurately and objectively measures loudness as viewers subjectively experience it. New features include user-selectable measurement algorithms and a high-quality peak limiter. It is available as an inclusive package or as an update to the original version.
As with the original, Dolby Media Meter 2 features user-selectable Dialogue Intelligence™ technology that detects and measures loudness only during the presence of speech. Dolby Media Meter 2 users can also select measurement options that include Leq(m) for cinema trailers and commercials Leq(A), True Peak, and Dialogue Range, as well as ITU-R BS.1770-1. Other new features include level meters; a highquality, user-adjustable peak limiter; a warning setting with user selectable function and threshold; and a real-time graphing function. Dolby Media Meter 2 runs as a Mac® or Windows® stand-alone application, as a Digidesign® Pro Tools® AudioSuite or RTAS plug-in, and as a VST plug-in for such popular programs as Pyramix, Nuendo, and Fairlight. It can also run as a Mac-only AU for Apple® software. Dolby Media Meter 2 supports measurement of Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby E, and PCM audio formats. All versions of Media Meter 2 can produce and save log files.
As a stand-alone product or a Digidesign AudioSuite plug-in, Dolby Media Meter 2 is a faster-than-real-time, file-based measurement application.1 This is useful for DVD and Blu-ray Disc™ mastering, and for program creation and quality control applications in audio production, postproduction, and broadcast facilities. As a Pro Tools RTAS or VST plug-in, Dolby Media Meter 2 measures loudness in real time, so that users can track levels during the mixing process to help meet network delivery requirements. Real-time versions can simultaneously display short- and long-term loudness levels with or without Dialogue Intelligence.
